Ethan Almighty

Ethan's all HYPER today.
He's been up for straight 13 hours!!
He won't take naps, he said he's too cool for it,
"Naps are for babies" he said. hahaha
We kinda take advantage of the situation and have fun with it.
Hope he can sleep longer tonite... :S

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to our blog.
Since having a baby is an "interesting" journey for us...
yeps with all the mistakes, bloopers, and of course, silly episodes of us as first timers, it'll be fun to put everything in a blog.

Been a month since we got baby E...
Life's been like an amusement park for us...
Not a zoo..nope. not that wild...just an amusement park.
It's scary in a sense, since u won't know what's coming
(like when u open up a full diaper)
but it has also made us laugh till our stomach hurts.

In a good day, life's peaceful like all d cotton candies and carnival kiddy songs..but in another, it gives butterflies in our stomach with all the roller coaster rides. Sometimes makes us dizzy n nauseous due to the excess adrenaline rush. (hahaha)

Besides the fact that giving him milk every 2-3 hours makes me feel like a sleep deprived milkin' cow sometimes... (LOL), Ethan's existence has sent us to cloud #9. He is really2 heaven sent. No words to describe how happy and excited we are. In the end of the day, watching him sleeps (IF he sleeps), coos and smiles peacefully make us sigh and think that all the amusement park rides are well WORTH IT! =)

They're almost addicting....simply can't get enuf of him. :P
Never wanna go back to the day before him :)
Well...wat to say...we're just gonna do our best,
and enjoy the ride to the max. =)
Like what Obama said: so help us God!

and dudu the birdie.
They're Ethan's new friends.
Lookin at them, I also got hypnotized. -.-"
Hope they'll hypnotize Ethan to sleep pretty soon...coz we're getting drowsy n sleeeeeehpeyyyyyyyyyyyyy :D

Ethan's Bedtime Story

This is what we're talkin about...
In this age, it's not trendy to read our kids bedtime story...
It's in style, however, for our KIDS to tell US a bedtime story... :)

This is when Ethan's having fever...he became a little hyper and became more talkative than usual...

The next morning, we're sent to Children's Hospital due to Ethan's first fever. We never knew that baby under 2 months old that gets fever has to go through that many pokings!! Yikess. They asked him to be hospitalized for 2 days, ...but we opt. out. Yep, we kinda run ourselves away from the grip of all those blood thirsty doctors!! -.-" By faith, we know that baby E's all fine!Thank God he's still as smiley n chatty as ever. This is him trying to tell us his story, while practicing his first n fave word: "Aguuu..."

I Love Your Smile

Some babies are mild,
Some are born with extreme tenderness and super mellow traits....

Our baby is...well...loud,
and chatty. (wonder where he got that from :P)
He coos, giggles (yes, at 5 weeks old), he smiles,
On a bad day, he'd squirms and stretches till his face's all red.
He talks in his sleep, he talks when we change his diaper, he talks when he drinks milk.

After everything's said and done, he'd look into your eyes,
and there he'd smile again, sigh, and let out his favorite word so far: "Aguu..."
In Ethan's World Dictionary, Agu means: I'm full, I'm hungry, I'm sleepy, Aguu I miss you, Agu I love you, and of course, Agu I want Milk.

We thank God for an active and talkative baby...
Afterall, fruits never fall far from their tree... :)

Ethan's Ark

So few weeks ago we were celebrating Ethan's one month on earth.
The theme was Noah's ark,... the idea was to celebrate Ethan's exodus from the "ARK", since we're practically stuck inside our house for almost 40 days due to Seattle's snowy weather.

Finally after 40 days, it's time to re introduce Ethan to the world.
We invited like almost 50 people, and there are actually still 20 more peeps that we'd like to have in our house..but we're afraid that this humble abode will explode of exceeding its human capacity.. so here came the parade of our best inner circles, friends, and family that has been generously showering baby E with their love, prayers, support...and of course, gifts!! :)

Highlight of the night, was of course, the Noah's Ark 2-tiered cake made by E's beautiful auntie Natasha.. :) Photo courtesy belongs to the amazing Mrs.Stefanie Lie. It was an amazing nite for all of us. E was so excited to see that many people, he couldn't sleep for the rest of the night!! (guess who has to stay up late to help him sleep).

Thank u all for strollin by! :)

Cool as Mickey Mouse

December was a happy month since Ethan got his first visit from his grandparents and of course, the coolest uncle in the whole world, Jason. We figure, before Ethan's old enough to go to Disneyland to see Mickey Mouse... Uncle J's close enough. He's funny, entertaining, he also sends Ethan to la-la land. Pretty good replacement for now.... ;)

These are the pictures of Uncle J sending Ethan to Dreamland in less than 5 minutes!

For a bonus, he also changes diaper, plays guitar...AND gives 24/7 entertainment for us, the adults. What more can you ask?? hehehe We MISS U UNCLE J!

Guest Who?

Among our first guests...

Rock'a my baby...

Baby E's finally here! :)
He was born December 5th 2008 at 10.43 AM in the morning.
Weighing 7 lbs and 12 oz or 3.5 kgs, 22 inches long.

Thank God it was a pretty easy labor. It was not as scary as I thought it'd be. No dramatic screams or loud cries like you see in films. Martin was holding my right hand the whole time. I think God was giving me strength through him, as He promised me that He'll be in my right shade (Psalms 121).

3 things to remember for ur future reference:
1.Epidural is a woman's best friend.
2.Hubbies: only three words: "Good Job Honey" or "You're doing great!"
3.Push like you're pushing underwater *if you're raising eyebrows now, you'll understand l8r*

Welcome to Earth Baby E, we're gonna love you like there's no tomorrow.

Ain't no Mountain High Enough

December 5th 2008...

2 AM in the morning, just few hours before we went to hospital for having E, I was lying on my bed, cringing of the twist of pain coming here and there. In the midst of all these, I had a little conversation with my Dad (not the earthly one...the one Up Up and Away)...it went something like this:

Me: "Dad, u there?"
Big Guy (BG) up there : "Yeah"
Me : "Are you going to be with me through all these? I'm a little scared."
BG: "You know I love you"
Me: *smile* :)
BG: "By the way, Joy, do you know the difference between right and responsibility?"
Me:" Hak dan kewajiban? Yep... pernah blajar tuhan, plajaran PMP pas SD.
BG: "Good. I know your thoughts. All these while, you've been thinking, what if i can't do this, or do that.. you have to do this and that for the baby. You've been thinking that he is your responsibility, a big task for you to do. I just want you to know that this baby is NOT only going to be your responsibility, but he is also your right. I give it to you as a gift, so you two can enjoy him. I want you to enjoy him."
Me: ...titik2
BG: "That's why you name him Nathanael Maxwell = Great Gift from God. He is My gift for you. I want you to enjoy him"
Me: *Tears* T_T
God: "Don't worry Joy, I know what I'm doing, rest assured"

15 minutes later...
"Tin...I think we need to call the hospital"

-------------------------------------------------------------

Weeks later...
here we are...enjoying him a little too much i guess ;)

We're supposed to test his Moro reflex (the one where the arms will fly up when stimulated), he has great reflex alright...

It's No Carousel Ride...

So few years back... when few shoreline peeps were hangin' out in a warm meridian apt, one of the kids suddenly had a random thought n thinkin' it out loud:

"Can u actually imagine Joy having a kid?"

And there was a long... silent...awkward pause for few seconds.
Then they all burst into laughter... like, literally rollin' on the floor kinda laughs.
My reaction when I heard that? I also laughed.

Not to say anything, but those who knows me best, they'd know that I'm not the most Maternal person in the whole world. Those who know me'd know that..

1. I'm a workaholic. Love makin $$. Been workin from Freshman year at Arby's, till recently as Project Manager @ World Vision.
2. I'm an extreme people person.
3. I had million of things goin on in my head at once..mostly about ppl, maybe caused by fact #2
4. I'm a little ADD, maybe caused by #3
5. I'm clumsy, maybe caused by #4 (well I improved...a bit... a lot...maybe).
6. I can't handle expensive items with care...maybe caused by fact #5.
7. I laugh too much, esp. at myself due to my own silly random things, maybe caused by all of the above.

So having that said... holding a baby, n raising him up to be a city hero is...well.. a bit of a challenge for me. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love LOVE LOVE this adorable smiley little guy that I'm holding in my hands now with all my heart...I'm literally his #1 fan. Well maybe #2 after my hubby, he's a fanatic. But let's just say that now I fall under that EGR people. (EGR= Extra Grace Required).

One thing I hold on to, is my Dad's promise that say: "My ways are perfect!" Psalms 18:30 "As for God, His way is perfect". He said He knows what He's doin n He'll never leave me alone. So I trust Him on that. :) Plus I got a pretty solid back up here.. a great, over-the-top, emotional-anchor, bottle-washing, diaper-changing, super-dad hubby.

One thing for sure, from now on... it's not gonna be a carousel ride for us where it's peaceful, predictable, n full of happy la-la songs. It's safe and steady....you know exactly where you're goin, (well....around).

It doesn't need guts to ride a carousel.

For us, Baby E's gonna send us off into a Roller Coaster ride, where life's turn can't really be predicted. Once we're on top, and the next second we're dropping down like mad causing thousands of butterflies drizzle in our stomach. We'd scream, we'd laugh out loud... sometimes we'll be extremely dizzy and sometimes it cause severe vomiting and diarrhea, (HAHA)
but hey.... overall, Roller Coaster Ride is FUN!

That's why most adults line up for Space Mountain, not Dumbo the flyin elephant.
They're in for the thrill.
They're in for the excitement....that hint of mystery of not knowing what's next.
They're in for the adrenaline rush.

As long as we put on the right "safety belt", then we'll be fine.

So..buckle up, n let's enjoy the ride... :)
